2017 - 18 Proposed FUSD Literature List Grades 6-12

In accordance with Policy IJ/IJ-R - Instructional Resources and Materials, and Policy IJJ/IJJ-R  - Textbook/Supplementary Materials Selection and Adoption the secondary English Language Arts teachers (6th - 12th grade) have completed revisions for the 2017-18 Literature Book list.

Under the responsibilities listed in the policies, the committee has made revisions based on:
  • Consideration of varied interest, abilities, learning styles, and maturity levels of students served.
  • Stimulation of growth in factual knowledge, critical analysis of differing sides of issues, literary appreciation, aesthetic values, and recognition of various societal values.
  • Assurance of a comprehensive collection of resources appropriate for the complete education of all students.  Placing principle above personal opinion and reason above prejudice.
The public review time period will end on January 16, 2017 (60 days).  We encourage parents/public to offer comments and it is highly recommended that you read the entire book versus relying on websites that give brief overviews or critiques.  The highlighted titles are new additions to the already board approved list.
